Truck Driver Has Semi Stolen While Trying To Help Motorist

A truck driver temporarily had his truck stolen while trying to investigate an overturned pickup truck in Tennessee over the weekend.

The incident happened in Williamson County on Saturday, September 10 at around 4.30 am.

According to WKRN News, the truck driver was driving along Interstate 65 when he saw a white pickup truck in the middle, so he asked the motorist to check on him and make sure they were okay. After exiting his truck, the pickup truck driver suddenly jumped into the truck cab and left with the rig, leaving the trucker to explain to the police what happened.

“I saw the light going towards that. I thought it was one of you guys. I said, ‘Let me see if it is the children or someone is injured.’ It was a bad choice, a very bad choice,” the trucker told police in a body cam video.

A short time later, Williamson County deputy and Brentwood police noticed the theft on I-65 north near Concord Lane. The responding deputy’s dash cam shows the truck rolling across the road and driving on the shoulder before slowing to about 10 mph. The thief then jumped out of the truck, which rolled down the traffic lanes and came to a halt on the concrete barrier wall.

Police eventually arrested the thief, 32-year-old Jamie Edmonson, and the truck driver arrived at the scene shortly after to pick up his truck.

“He’s my first love, I hope he’s okay,” said the trucker as he approached his truck, which was still movable. The driver was also able to locate the legal shotgun hidden behind his seat, which Edmonson thankfully did not find.

Edmondson is currently in the Maury County Jail and faces multiple charges, including stealing a $200,000 Semi truck.
